On 18th May 2023, the students of International College of Management and Sports who reside in Akademi Bolasepak Merah Kuning (ABMK) conducted their very own Hari Raya Feast. The feast took place at the ABMK cafeteria and was attended by the students, the football coaches, and lecturers.
The program was initiated by Mr. Mohamad Aiman bin Abdul Wahab, final year student of Diploma in Football Studies who is also the President of the Student Representative Council. All the ABMK residents agreed to raise the fund on their own for the project; and managed to collect almost RM900 among themselves.
As early as 3.00 pm, some of the students gathered at the cafeteria to work on their chicken and beef satay. Mr. Din, the cafeteria owner, has been a wonderful help to the program – providing utensils and workspace for the students to work on their feast. Mr. Din and his wife also helped to provide some delicious delicacies for the feast, such as nasi tomato, ayam masak merah, nasi himpit, and kuah kacang.
Around 7.45 pm, the students started to gather around the cafeteria. The students look so ravishing and immaculate in their different variations of Baju Melayu. The program started with a welcoming speech by the football coach, Mr. Shahril Arsat followed by Mr. CSR President himself, Mr. Aiman. Then, around 8.00 pm, the feast started.
It was a beautiful sight to see – seeing all the students mingling around with each other, having fun talking and laughing while enjoying themselves with a magnificent dinner feast. The Hari Raya songs performed by the acoustic buskers add such a sentimental nuance to the feast. It is like that typical Raya morning with your family members, but this time, it is the family that they built on their own in ABMK.
The feast lasted until 11.00 pm. Every single one of the students worked together to clean the cafeteria after the feast. Then it was on to the regular kids-these-days impromptu photo and TikTok sessions, where the fun lasted until midnight.
It was a successful program on one hand, but most importantly, a very meaningful one. One of these days these students are going to look back at the memories they created that night and they will be smiling, thinking that they have a wonderful extended family in ABMK and had created thousands of picture-perfect memories with them, something that they will cherish long after they leave ABMK.
