Candidates are given the flexibility to propose their own research topics, subject to supervisory capacity and alignment with the programme’s research focus areas.

Admission Requirements

  •  Minimum academic qualification

i. A Bachelor’s degree (Level 6 Malaysian Qualifications Framework, MQF) in related fields with a minimum CGPA of 2.75 as accepted by the HEP Senate; OR

ii. A Bachelor’s degree (Level 6, MQF) in related fields with a minimum CGPA of 2.50 and not meeting CGPA of 2.75 can be accepted, subject to rigorous internal assessment*; OR

iii. A Bachelor’s degree (Level 6, MQF) in related fields with a minimum CGPA of 2.00 and not meeting CGPA of 2.50 can be accepted, subject to a minimum of 5 years relevant working experience** and rigorous internal assessment*; OR

iv. A Bachelor’s degree (Level 6, MQF) in non-related fields with a minimum CGPA of 2.50 as accepted by the HEP Senate, subject to having relevant working experience** and rigorous internal assessment*; OR

v. A Bachelor’s degree (Level 6, MQF) in non-related fields with a minimum CGPA of 2.00 and not meeting 2.50 as accepted by the HEP Senate, subject to a minimum of 5 years relevant working experience** and rigorous internal assessment*; OR

vi. A Bachelor’s degree (Level 6, MQF) in non-related fields with a minimum CGPA of 2.00 as accepted by the HEP Senate and without relevant working experience, subject to passing pre-requisite courses***; OR

vii. Other qualifications equivalent to a Bachelor’s degree (Level 6, MQF) recognised by the Malaysian Government.

  •  English language requirement(s): Achieve a minimum Band 4 in MUET or equivalent to Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR) (Mid B2). E.g: IELTS 6.0

Supervision & Support

The programme is supported by qualified academic staff and industry practitioners with expertise in areas such as Strategic Management, Human Resource Management, Marketing, Financial Management, Entrepreneurship, Business Analytics and Sports & Event Management. Supervisors guide students in developing research proposals and conducting applied or theoretical research aligned with their areas of interest.

Students receive continuous support through structured workshops on research methodology, data analysis, proposal writing, and academic publishing. Individual and group consultations are provided to strengthen proposal quality and research design.

  •  Databases available

Students have access to Emerald Insight (in process for purchase) and a range of open-access databases such as JSTOR, ScienceDirect, Semantic Scholar, DOAJ (Directory of Open Access Journals), and ERIC (Education Resources Information Center) to support literature review and data-driven research.

Graduates may progress to Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) or Doctor of Business Administration (DBA) programmes at ICMS or other recognized universities locally and internationally.
